Roger Powell, new executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Mariposa County, receiving a check from Steve Knauf of Steve’s Sportsman’s Cafe.

Habitat for Humanity of Mariposa County welcomed its first full-time executive director, Roger Powell (left), the first week in October.   Powell comes from Columbus, Ohio, where he worked in HFH of Greater Columbus in construction as a volunteer and later on staff for a total of six years.  In his last years there, he participated in a $1,000,000 project that resulted in homes for nine Habitat partner families.  He also worked for several years in disaster relief, rebuilding homes after hurricanes and tornadoes.  During the past three years he was employed in Oklahoma for Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity as its construction manager.

HFH of Mariposa County is sure to benefit from Roger Powell’s many years of experience with Habitat for Humanity.   The Board of Directors is very happy to announce his selection as the new executive director of our affiliate.

Powell arrived in Mariposa during Habitat Awareness Week, October 1 to 8.  One of his first duties was to receive a check for $1,125 from Steve Knauf of Steve’s Sportsmans Cafe, a strong supporter of affordable housing in the county.
